SAMPLE EDITING + KONTAKT MAPPING
Tracked and edited within Pro Tools, Android Dreams is an expressive Kontakt ambient instrument created from an E-bowed Fender Jaguar played through a boutique modified Fender Champion 600. Samples were then edited using iZotope RX 11 denoise module to remove amp hum and hiss and audio assets were named to Kontakt conventions to allow for streamlined root key auto mapping. The instrument is currently in beta with a next version planned that will include release triggers, velocity layers and a multi-mic configuration to allow the user to control the level of room ambience.
The instrument's slow attack and one-shot sample mode are designed to evoke a sound that sits somewhere between a piano with the sustain pedal pressed and a bowed cello. It features two groups, panned left and right, each using different recordings to create a wide, double-tracked stereo image.

ORGANIC HORROR
Composed to a brief set by esteemed producer Patrick Shanahan (Tenet, Call of Duty, War of the Planet of the Apes), Organic Horror is a production album striving for a dissonant, nerve-shredding tension featuring bespoke instruments and organic textures.
All samples for Shattered Spleen and Falling Sinews were recorded exclusively for this project and feature Aztec death whistle, antique zither, zora, and a detuned violin. Editing and mixing were done in Logic Pro.

SHEEP BAND PRODUCTION
SHEEP are a four piece grunge band, focusing on heavy riffs and melodic hooks. Production for the band's first EP took place over four days while dry-hiring Longwave studios Cardiff, owned by Grammy-nominated producer Romesh Dodangoda.
Drum tracking utilised a 20 microphone setup with close attention being paid to avoid phase issues. Bass was recorded using three parallel signals and guitars were quadtracking using contrasting amps including a Bogner and Marshall. Outboard compression and EQ was used extensively to create high quality sounds at source.

POP! THE MOVIE
POP! Is a student movie telling the story of modern pop star Anna Cherry who is haunted by early 2000s star Angelina. The client requested an early 2000s feel for Angelina's track Candy, inspired by Brittney Spears while Anna's track Sweet was requested to be a more tropical pop sound influenced by Dua Lipa.
Both beats were produced within Ableton Live and mixed in Pro Tools. Vocals were tracked through a JZ V67 and Black Lion Seventeen compressor. Vocals were then tuned using Melodyne.
Both tracks were mastered to LUFS standards. Listen below:

IMMERSIVE PROJECTS
Full Circle explores the stories of three people living with terminal illness using sound design, and sound spatialisation, with the intention of physically placing the listener in the middle of the conversation between interviewer and interviewee.
Bacon Immersive aims to use Dennis Smalley's concept of Spectromorphology to take the listener through the different levels of sound surrogacy, reflecting the various levels of abstraction in Bacon's paintings. The piece aimed to explore the historic methods of sample manipulation, starting with the techniques used in musique concrète and ending with granular synthesis to create an acousmatic experience that mirrors physical gesture.
Both projects were created in 7.1 in Logic Pro using a combination of object and bed tracks. Extensive automation was utilised to create an evolving narrative.
Please note: following examples are binaural down-mixes optimised for stereo playback. As such, they may not fully capture the spatial fidelity or overall quality of the original multichannel mixes. For the best listening experience use headphones. Due to the large file sizes, the audio files are provided as a compressed ZIP archive for download.
